Welcome to our new section of Future You, AI for Creators. In the few short months since we started writing this newsletter, we couldn’t ignore the pace of creators experimenting with AI creation tools. Join us to explore our perspective on the growth of AI for Creators.

First, some numbers…

$100 million - Image generator Stable Diffusion is in discussions to raise $100 million at a valuation up to $1 billion

From Google Trends, we track the interest over the past 12 months for Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, and AI art.

184 - Startup accelerator Y Combinator has invested in 184 Artificial Intelligence companies. See the list.

How architects and clients are using AI tools to design new buildings

The practical applications of AI are being embraced by architects and designers in a recent Fast Company article.

Some quick takeaways:

How AI augments the creative process

[It] might seem like a troubling development for an industry based on bringing buildings into existence with teams of highly trained humans, but Harrison [of HDR] says artificial intelligence will likely augment the work that architects do.

Opening up new avenues for exploration

“In addition to using reference images or studying precedents online, we can now use these tools to quickly illustrate an idea or a feeling that we want a particular space to evoke,” says Martha Tsigkari, head of Applied R+D at Foster + Partners. “This side of machine learning is shaping up to be a useful tool for drawing inspiration.”

These tools could also speed up the process of turning those rough ideas and napkin sketches into workable designs.

Why use AI?

“We need tools to help automate the tediousness of a lot of the work that we do.”

Prediction: AI tools drives new job creation, not job destruction.

“All of these things have changed the profession, but I’m not really worried for people’s jobs,” Kudless says. “There will be jobs coming out of this that we don’t even know about.”

Till next time…

We don’t make meaningful art through lateral moves but by constantly challenging ourselves to new heights. We cannot create great art without continuing to create ourselves.
